96 Eyes Tee

For the most part I’m into anything really obscure musically, from Metal to punk to whatever you want to call this…I hear it as Minimal Wave, which is one of my favorite genres at the moment outside of metal. It has a major DIY aesthetic like Punk did but with an even more Lo-Fi sound.  Lots of bleep bloop 80’s synth stuff.  96 eyes (Not to be confused with the Gothic rock band The 69 Eyes), was one of these bands but so obscure there isnt anything about them online, except for this beauty of an explanation from the Die or D.I.Y blog page (dieordiy2.blogspot.com) review of this rare cassette…

“It’s the kind of laughable crud you’d expect to hear in the disco scenes from ‘Desperately Seeking Susan’, with the evil Madonna prancing embarrassingly amongst a legion of leather jackets , Ray Bans, and hair styles with their own personal ozone holes. Having said that, I really enjoyed listening to this, in an ‘Incredibly Strange Music’ kind of way. It’s far too easy to fly the flag for Coltrane, Nurse With Wound, and The Los Angeles Free Music Society(LAFMS).
