GWR Records was a British based Independent heavy metal record label founded in London in 1986, probably most famous for housing most of the 80's releases of Motorhead.  Also among the roster were bands like Girlschool, Wendy O. Williams, Cro-Mags, Mekong Delta, Sword, Tank, Killer Dwarves and other mostly Thrash, Punk and Hardcore bands.  The label emerged after the colllapse of Bronz Records, the longtime home of Motorhead, and quickly became associated with the late-1980's UK metal underground. The GWR was an acronym for "Great Western Road" which was their office address in London at the time.  The label, as it was known, folded in 1992. Though short lived, GWR Records remains an important cult label in the history of British heavy metal and late 80's thrash.
