The Design

This was the outdoor theater in the town I grew up in.  It was located just south of Wisconsin Rapids on...you guessed it...Highway 13.  I went a couple times with my dad back in the day, watching while sitting in the back of an El Camino.  Anybody who frequented this place, at least in its later days, has fond memories of a nearby mink farm that filled the night sky with fumes of what smelled like rotting carcasses.  If you could get through that you had a good night.  Highway 13 drive-in officially opened May 22, 1953 with the movies “Kansas Pacific” &  “Fort Vengeance”.  It closed up for good on July 30, 1989.
