The Pub opened in Madison in 1943 and was run by a man named John Schweogler for 64 years, never leaving that spot.  It was adorned with a big plate glass window looking out to State Street where tables were lined up so you could sit with your drink and witness the interested folk walking by.  One of the more popular college bars in its time, it closed up shop as The Pub, finally, in 2010.
